What is SeeSaw Images?
SeeSaw Images is a stock photography agency that specilaizes in active, aspirational and everyday lifestyle imagery. Images are instantly available with either a Rights Managed or Royalty Free license.
What does licensing an image mean?
When you purchase an image you are actually purchasing only a license for the rights to use that image. You are not purchasing ownership of the image. The price of the image license is based on the type of license you choose. In the case of Rights Managed images price is determined by a combination of factors including size, placement, duration of use, and geographic distribution. For Royalty Free images the price is determined by the size of the downloaded file.
What is the difference between a Rights Managed and Royalty Free license?
Rights Managed images are SeeSaw's premier images. A License for a Rights Managed image imposes restrictions on use such as limitations on size, placement, duration of use and geographic distribution. Pricing for a Rights Managed image (RMA or RME at the start of its filename) is calculated based on the usage details that you provide after the image is placed in your cart. Royalty Free means that, after purchasing a license for an individual Royalty Free image, you don't have to pay any additional royalties for successive uses of that Royalty Free image. Provided you comply with the original license terms, you have a perpetual license to re-use the Royalty Free image for which the license was purchased. Pricing for a Royalty Free image (RFA at the start of its filename) is determined by the size of the file that you select for download. The choices and prices are visible after the image is added to your cart. To view either the Rights Managed or Royalty Free license click on the TERMS tab in the menu bar.
Are Royalty Free images actually Free?
No. Royalty Free means that, after purchasing a license for an individual Royalty Free image, you don't have to pay any additional royalties for successive uses of that Royalty Free image. Provided you comply with the original license terms, you have a perpetual license to re-use the Royalty Free image for which the license was purchased.
How do I know if an image is Rights Managed or Royalty Free?
When viewing specific images within our galleries, Rights Managed images are designated with an "RMA" at the beginning of the file name, Rights Managed Editorial images begin with "RME" and Royalty Free images begin with "RFA". The type of image license offered is listed under RESTRICTIONS on the detail page of the image. You can choose to only view Rights Managed or Royalty Free images by checking the appropriate box on our search page.
How do I get started?
The best way to start is to either use the advanced search feature or just browse our galleries. Click the GALLERIES tab in the menu bar. Our Gallery Collections contain images that are specific to their own genre. Add any image to a Lightbox to view it again during your current visit. Lightboxes can be saved for later viewing or sharing by either creating an account, or logging in if you are an existing account holder. After making your final selection, add the image to your cart for pricing options and to begin the checkout process.
How do I search for the image I need?
The quickest and most efficient way to find a specific image is to use the search page. Click the SEARCH tab in the menu bar to be directed to this page. By filling in specific parameters, (keywords, city or state, model released, etc), the most relevant images to your needs will appear. Tips on how to use the search page are listed within the search page. After you perform the initial search all matching images will be displayed. At this point you will be able to refine your search further if desired. Alternatively you can perform a quick keyword search by clicking any of the keywords listed below an image. Any images that share the keyword will be displayed.
How do I find the price of an image?
Once an image is selected, click "add to cart". You will then be directed to a dialog box to choose image and usage details for Rights Managed images or to choose the image size for Royalty Free images. Once this is finalized, a licensing fee will be displayed and final checkout can proceed.
What is a Lightbox?
Simply put, a lightbox is a holding area where you can place images to view again later for licensing consideration. Anyone can create a lightbox, but it will remain a "temporary" lightbox until you login to your account and save it. If you are already logged in you will be prompted to select one of your own lightboxes, a shared lightbox, or a new lightbox. To view or share your existing lightboxes click the LIGHTBOXES tab in the menu bar.
Will the licensed image file be a JPEG or TIFF?
Rights Managed images are delivered as TIFF files. Royalty Free images are delivered as JPEG files.
Can I download a low res Comp copy of the image to use for test or sample purposes?
Yes. Low resolution Comp downloads of all images are available solely for test or sample purposes. Low Resolution Comp files are not for use in final projects, whether for internal or external use. A high resolution image file and image license must be obtained through the SeeSaw Images website before final use.
Can I purchase an image license on behalf for a third party.
Yes. After completing the checkout process Click the CONTACT tab in the menu bar to send SeeSaw images a message detailing the name of the third party that you are purchasing the image license on behalf. We will update our records with the new information.
How do I checkout?
Checkout is easy. Once you have decided upon the image(s) you would like to license just add them to your cart. Once you do so you will be directed to either choose the size of the jpeg if it's a Royalty Free image, or specify the image usage for Rights Managed images. It is here you will see the licensing price. During final checkout all we'll need is your billing information, (billing address, and Visa or Mastercard number), and you are all set to go.
